Generally speaking, Aloe Vera is non-toxic, but it may, for some, cause allergies, despite the fact that it acts as an anti-allergenic for most of people.
Pregnancy – be cautious, because pregnant women were advised not to drink Aloe. It is mainly because of aloin, the yellowish substance which comes from the leaf, not from the gel. But, in some cases it was used by pregnant women with no side effects. This was more of an issue in the past. And, of course, the brand of Aloe gel or juice still matters. Forever Living Aloe Gel is extracted by hand, not by machines, and it is known to be one of the gels with lowest detectable level of aloin.
Cystitis, Gall-Bladder, Uterine Haemorrhages – don’t take Aloe internally, or talk to your doctor.
Diabetes – Aloe Vera Gel and Juice are known to improve the ability of pancreas to synthesize insulin, and if you are on diabetes medications, you may end up with too much insulin in your blood. If you still drink Aloe, make sure you consult your doctor and monitor your insulin level more frequently.
